Owings achieved a notable performance. . . . Owings knew how to bring out the complex overall structure of this magnificent work, as well as imprinting a very appropriate expressive quality. But it was in "Gaspard de la Nuit" (1908) by Ravel that one could fully appreciate the exceptional abilities possessed by this great pianist. The magic of Ravel's world of sound found in Owings an ideal interpreter, with a full range of nuances, [and] a sense of tone color. . . .
